     If you live in the Los Angeles / Valley area on the West Coast, we hold weekly screenings of new films for members to enjoy.  Those memberhship levels are listed below.

          General Membership and / or Donation information

The Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films was founded in 1972 to honor, recognize and promote genre films. We annually present the prestigious Saturn Awards.

In recent years, we have added television and home entertainment categories to the media mix. We have also widened the scope of our awards by celebrating achievement in additional genres including action, adventure, and thrillers as well as international cinema. We recognize the films and programming the typical genre fan embraces and supports with great insight and passion.

Academy members vote the annual Saturn Awards. By joining the Academy, you will have the opportunity to have a voice in the selection of the Saturn Awards winners.

The Academy is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit corporation. The face value of your contribution (membership) is tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law.

                                                Various levels to join and become a member with your donation:

$285 – Premium Membership.  Receive a 2025 membership card (expiring 12/01/25) enabling you and one guest to attend Academy screenings held on the weekends in the Southern California area. In addition, you will be able to sign up and attend special events held throughout the week –which includes plays, special screenings, and other special events.

$245 – Regular Membership.  Receive a 2025 membership card (expiring 12/01/25) enabling you to vote in the Saturn Awards as well as to attend (with a guest) all of the Academy screenings held in the Los Angeles area.  We average 100 film screenings every year.

$500 – Professional Membership – Individual.  Receive a 2025 membership card (expiring 12/01/25) enabling you to vote in the Saturn Awards as well as attending (with a guest) all of the Academy screenings held in the Los Angeles area.  Additionally, you will receive an invitation to attend the Saturn Awards Show (a separate cost may be incurred to receive a ticket to the annual dinner).

$1000 – Professional Membership – Business.  Receive a 2025 membership card (expiring 12/01/25) enabling you to vote in the annual Saturn Awards as well as to attend (with a guest) all of the Academy screenings held in the Los Angeles area.  Additionally, you will receive an invitation to attend the Saturn Awards Show.  Two tickets will be included as part of your membership package provided the Saturn Awards show is produced by the organization.

$40 – Affiliate Membership.  (expires 12/01/25) Becoming an official member of the Academy and allowing you to sign up and vote for the annual Saturn Awards held every year.  Be one of the few who help determine the winners of this prestigious award.

Dr. Donald A. Reed is the Founder of the Academy.  Always having a love and passion for genre film, he realized his dream and started his organizations to honor a genre which was often overlooked as mindless fantasy.  Today the genre film rules the box office.  We are the only organization to consistently honor and recognize the talent in genre film and television for 50 years!
